The museum is partnering with the Gig Harbor Boat Shop to honor the 185th Anniversary of the Wilkes’ US Exploring Expedition! The restored longboat “Porpoise” is a hand-crafted replica of the captain's gig from the United States brig "Porpoise."This special presentation about the Centennial build of the Porpoise Gig will reveal its history, the process of its restoration, and the boat’s special connection to Gig Harbor.
