As early as 1910, Gig Harbor’s first netsheds began appearing along the waterfront. These modest over-water structures and docks of wood were constructed as storage sheds for fishing nets and gear used by local fishermen. Today, only 17 netsheds remain but the Harbor still boasts the largest inventory of historic netsheds on all of Puget Sound with eight still in use by our Commercial Fleet.
